Downtown Dubai, which was commonly known as Downtown Burj Dubai is mainly a massive scale complex, which is in development phase. It is situated on Sheikh Zayed Road and is the hub of some popular landmarks.
Located at its centre is the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building. The Dubai Mall, the world's largest shopping and entertainment destination. The Dubai Fountain, the worlds tallest performing fountain and more recently the Opera District, highlighted by the majestic Dubai Opera, a 2,000-seat multi-format events venue, luxury hotels and residences.
Downtown Dubai is a thriving city hub with a unique mix of aesthetically designed residential towers and commercial precincts.
Downtown Dubai Amenities
Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world and as such, it is the centrepiece of Downtown Dubai. This astonishing tower encompasses 90 residential floors, commercial office space and a 160-room Armani hotel. The area surrounding the Burj Khalifa is known as 'The Park' which includes 11 hectares of beautifully landscaped gardens, six water features, two tennis courts, children's playground and wading pool.
Dubai Mall, the world's largest shopping mall housing 1,200 shops, an olympic-sized ice rink, an aquarium and a water zoo. An air conditioned pedestrian walkway links the mall directly to the metro station.
Outside the Mall is the Dubai Fountain, the world's largest choreographed fountain system, putting on its spectacular show at half-hourly intervals after sunset. Accompanied by classical or contemporary music and illuminated by 6,600 lights and 50 coloured projectors computer controlled jets which shoot water up to 150m into the air.
